You know that feeling when you have all these plans and to-do-list items, but then life gets in the way? I'm sure you do, so please excuse me as I post Magnus's 7 months update approximately 2 weeks before his 8-month-birthday.
I get the feeling that time is speeding up - not only is it already September (wow!) but between working and momming and trying to squeeze in as much outdoor time as I can while the weather is this gorgeous low 70s early fall perfection, Magnus is growing like a weed! (But a cute weed!)
Side note: anyone else feel like once we hit the months that have an "r" in their names, you blink once and it's the end of the year? I can already feel it happening! Literally a few days ago, a few of my friends were discussing Halloween costumes, which I hadn't even started to think about. Next thing you know it's time to add pumpkin spice to Magnus's bottles, if you know what I mean...
Since his 6 months update, Magnus has learned to roll from belly to back (this actually came barely more than a week after he learned to roll from back to belly! Hooray!), first only over his left arm, and now sometimes over his right arm. He is sitting up super well and it feels like he's always been sitting. Isn't that weird, how something is the biggest deal when it first happens, and then it feels so normal?
He gives the sweetest (and slobberiest) kisses - by grabbing my head with both hands, pulling me in, and planting his open mouth on my cheek. And it melts my mama heart into a puddle every time!
Everything - and I mean EVERYTHING is edible. Especially mama's iphone and mama's hair. Speaking of iphones, it has now become almost impossible to take a candid picture or video - the second you point the phone at him, he busts out his biggest smile!
He weighs in at 21 lbs (9.5 kg) and is almost 28 inches (70.5 cm) long. He loves every type of food he's ever tried, except for that one time we put some spices into his pureed vegetables and he made a face. He wants to try water every time I have some in a glass, but then ends up spitting it all back out, so that's a work in progress.
He talks - A LOT - but still no "mama". (And just in case anyone thinks "no way!" - by talk, I don't mean actual words with actual meaning. Not to say my son is not a total genius or whatever, but it's just different sounds at this point.) In exchange for not saying mama yet, we get lots of smiles and giggles out of him. Sure fire ways to get him to laugh big are playing peek-a-boo, getting thrown in the air and facing out in the baby bjorn - the latter being a big hit with random strangers, or as D likes to say, Magnus is the best accessory he's ever worn.
..and we're back to warmer clothes, so please join me in mourning the days where those chunky baby thighs didn't have to hide behind long pants... sniff sniff. At the same time, babies with scarves y'all, I can't with the cuteness (see also, these pictures, taken in August, because there's no shame in that game. No shame at all ;))
No crawling yet by the way and no teeth yet either. Stay tuned for the 8 months update, maybe.
