PACKING CHECKLIST FOR BABY
July 5, 2017
If you're like me, the thought of packing sends you running around cleaning the house, catching up on emails, baking a cake, or literally just anything to avoid packing, only to then hopelessly overpack and have to lug around several dozen pounds of unnecessary stuff on vacation.Â
Â

(Not my best photo but let's be real - sweatpants and glasses it is for those long haul flights with a baby!)
Â
Anyway, does that sound familiar? Ugh, packing. You're my least favorite part of traveling! What has helped me, though, is to go into it with a minimalist mindset and make a list beforehand that I can just check off. For my own clothes, I always stick to a color scheme, so I can mix and match and don't have to pack too many pieces. For Magnus, I figured I'd do the same thing - and in any event, I really only put him in blue and white, some grays and some beiges here and there, so the clothes-part was actually way easier than packing for myself!
Â
Here's the list I made for 4-month-old Magnus for our recent 3-week trip to Europe - but keep in mind that we were expecting spring/summer weather and laundry opportunities everywhere we went:
Â
CLOTHES
3 long sleeve bodysuits
3 short sleeve bodysuits
4 onesie PJs
3 short onesies
4 pairs of footsie pants (linking our favorites from H&M)
2 pairs of regular pants
2 pairs of shorts/bloomers
3 hoodies/sweaters
2 pairs of socks
5 drool bibsÂ
2 hats
2 sunhats (linking our waterproof iplay sunhat)
Sunglasses
Swim diaper (linking our favorite iplay swim diaper)
Sleepsack
Â
For me, the easiest outfit for Magnus to fly in was a long sleeve bodysuit and footsie pants - that way no socks ran the risk of getting lost and the snap-fastening was limited to the 3 snaps on a bodysuit. I also had a sweater and a hat ready in case it got too cold on the plane.Â
Â

Â
STUFF
Â
Diapers & wipes for 2-3 days (remember stores are closed on Sundays in Europe and other places!)
2 swaddle blankets (for putting Magnus in the grass for a picnic, or shading him from the sun in the stroller)
1 regular blanket
Baby sunscreen (linking our favorite - THINK baby)
The otteroo ! We love this floatie and so does Magnus - both for splashing around in the tub and for introducing him to the big boy swimming pool 💦
Travel size baby shampoo & body lotion - we love Mustela, and they have this convenient travel kit.Â
Travel size Aquaphor (bonus fact: also works great against blisters if you are walking a lot)
Travel size diaper rash cream
2 washcloths
5 burp cloths
Baby Benadryl
Baby Tylenol
2 engaging toys
Teething toy
Baby nail kit (file, clippers, nail scissors)
Stroller Pegs (to fasten a swaddle for shade, or a toy)
Baby carrier - we love the Baby Bjorn!
Babyzen YoYo stroller - hands down the best travel stroller we could have bought!
Â
I also packed the Medela Freestyle pump and bottles, as well as a little cooler with an ice pack to store the bottles on the go.Â
Â
As an aside, a friend told me about this airplane bassinet cover called Cozigo - looks amazing! Gotta give it to the Australians for knowing what's up when it comes to travel :)
Â
...And that's it!  Let me know if you liked the packing list - maybe I could post one that I used for myself? Or maybe more baby packing lists for different climates/ages/length of trip? Would love to hear your thoughts!Â
