Finally, I am getting around to a post about Antigua, where I spent 5 days girls-tripping with my mom and my sister back in February! Caribbean vacations are seriously the best in January or February when NYC weather is completely unbearable. Thankfully, the weather has been absolutely beautiful in NYC this week, so I can finally look back at my Antigua pictures without questioning all life decisions I've ever made about where to live :-)
Probably one of the more momentous things that happened on this trip is that I finally convinced my sister to get instagram - go follow her travels at @clara.mariechen !
Here we are ready to touch down on the island.
My sister and I got big straw hats, for the specific purpose of taking lots of photos. My sister is such a hat person, she can wear anything on her head! Me - not so much (my head is actually too big for most hats!) - but I loved the hat for reading or snoozing on the beach!
My bikini is Arysia Swim - their bikinis are so flattering! It was a bit of an investment, but so worth it!
As you may remember from my Barbados travel diary, I am a big fan of all drinks Caribbean (see what I did there?). In other words, Piña Coladas and Rum Punch for the win! When in Rome, amirite?
Beach-wise, I can highly recommend Long Bay Beach - it's beautiful and has one of those awesome little beach shacks that sell fresh seafood (like a whole fried fish - see below) and of course the obligatory rum drinks. Delicious!
When it comes to beach fashion, I have always been a bikini lover. That being said, I am finding myself loving the one-piece trend - a good one-piece can be so stunning! I used to be all about getting a tan, so one-pieces wouldn't work for me (growing up in northern Germany will give you a lifelong craving for sunshine, let me tell you that...), but I am trying to be more careful these days and use lots of sunscreen, so tan lines aren't really a thing I worry about any more.
Here are a couple of my faves - hoping they'll get lots of use this summer!
